Spring 2019
Week 2
Friday 10th, 2019
Hello! Welcome to my blog. I haven't been able to write on my blog for over 2 years. I been very busy starting up my crafts supplies business and its almost ready. Now I have a new Facebook group, so please join and share your DIYs with me: https://www.facebook.com/groups/queenmagdablog/
I got a Cricut Air 2 machine and an easy press for Christmas, and it's a lot of fun learning to use it. I been going through a lot of Pinterest ideas and can't wait for school to be over in May 30th, to start working on a few projects that I saved for this Summer.
I just created this beautiful Summer wreath and it only costed me less than $10 dollars! Hope y'all like it!
Summer Wreath
I wanted to get a beautiful wreath for summer, but after going shopping to my favorite stores I've realized that they were so expensive, and decided to do one myself without breaking the bank :)
If you have a dollar tree or 99 cents they may have the following materials:
- 2 -bags of Green moss (I chose a dark green color)
- 1 -Tree wreath (you can buy 2 if its very thin)
- 1 -Metal wreath wire (Don't remove the plastic ring tag so it will be easier to hang it after is completed)
- 1 -A flower wreath of your choice ( you can either buy it at dollar store, but for this one, I got it at a clearance price of $3 dollars at Joanns-after June is the best time to buy Spring flowers in clearance)
- I tough I was going to need the pliers but later realized that I was able to remove the wires from the circle by hand by just pull it away
- Glue Gun/Liquid Glue: Pick your poison: Liquid glue or glue gun! ok for this one I'll leave it to your choice, if you prefer liquid gun I'll recommend you to use clear glue. I used the glue gun but you have to work very quickly and with a spoon to push the moss without burning your fingers :(
- 1 -Roll of packing tape ( I chose brown, but you can paint it green with a sharpie, if you prefer to add more color
I did it with just 1 baggie for the front, but I will get a 2nd baggie to do the back part
I forgot to include the glue gun in last pic. I have this humongous glue gun for large jobs. Always used a ceramic plate to hold it, because it can ruin your self healing mat if you place it there.
Wrap around the tape so it will be the base to glue the moss.
Do it evenly so you will have better results.
Ok looking better :)
Now its glue time! place all the moss of the first baggie in the middle so it will be easier to glue it. If you got 2 baggies I recommend you to do the back part first!
Now after glue it, shake it a bit for the moss that didn't stick to it.
Now remove all the flowers pick from the wreath ring so it will be easier to place them in the wreath.
Now after you decided how you want them place it, secure them with glue gun, it will be easier than liquid glue. Always wait until the glue from the moss is already dried, if not, it will tear all apart.
It will be your choice if you want to include this little guys, I got a bag of 2 for $1 , and the large one was $2. They look sooooo adorable but got to keep'em away from my cat!
Attach the birds with the glue gun. Now this is the final result, and honestly I adored how it looks! It looks way much better than those from the store, and I saved a lot by taking a trip to dollar store and joanns when flowers are on sale. Hope you like it, and please suscribe to my facebook group to see how your wreath looks.
Beach Sign Project
My bathroom is ocean thema, so I been spending a lot of time going thru pinterest, gathering ideas from here and there, and I ended up doing this beautiful sign, again at a low cost, and you can customize it as you like, so here are the materials I got at Michaels (don't forget to go when is coupon day for regular price items):
- 1- Wood sign of your choice (unpainted-wood work area
- Twine for macrame depending on the size of the sign(I had 3mm soft rope)
- I bought a bag of stars and shells so I could combine them
- I made the stencil using my cricut and painting over it with white paint (if you don't have a cricut, you can use your nice handwriting :)
- 1-Matte blue parrot acrylic paint
- 2-gloss ocean blue acrylic paint
- 1-white matte paint
- 3 small sponge for painting (this ones are cheaper at dollar tree)
- Glue gun to secure the twine in front and back
First paint all over using the matte paint, then when its completely dry do the stencil lettering or write the letters, You can do the fish tail by doing a cut out with scissors and trace it with a pencil, then paint the inside with white color.
I used the bic white out to cover the tiny parts that didn't cover with the paint after removing the cricut stencil.
Finally when everything is done, use the metalic ocean paint to simulate water floating around just don't over do it. You can add some sand (they sell fake sand at Michaels or Dollar Tree).Attach the sea shells, stars with the glue gun. This sign looks so beautiful in my bathroom. I'll post a pic of my bathroom once is completed decorated.
I enjoyed posting my latest additions to my DIY craft. It's time to go to sleep :) thank you again for checking out this brief blog, but I promise I will post all the DIYs, cooking recipes, and travel pictures that I been working on this last 2 years.
