Good-bye 2022
I've decided to take a full year off from blogging so I could focus on my new life. It was hard to live the pandemic era due to COVID19. I had to start making new plans moving forward, so I could go back to square one, and see myself doing new things.
The beginning of 2022 was kind of difficult because I had to debate about keep working from home, or move to a new job at the office, so after too much consideration about the pros and cons, I decided to continue in my current job. I enjoy working from home don't get me wrong, but I miss the daily interaction with my colleagues at work, have the water cooler small talk, the coffee machine brewing at 2 pm for the additional energy recharge, and have that chit-chat about the office daily adventures. I miss my cubicle a lot! Anyways, the pros of working from home are that I save money and time going back and forth from work, do my house chores during my breaks, cook at home, and be to relax as soon as I turn off the computer.
I've continued pursuing my college degree, but I had to take fewer classes this semester to focus more on enjoy my time off and do the things I love.
I decided to start travelling, going to new places this 2022. I started the year by going to visit my family in Houston, Tx. I must say it was very good to see them all after long time! We gathered in a nice restaurant, and I'm glad they spent time with me. Then after that, I planned my first trip alone to New York City to celebrate my birthday. It was one of the dreams I ever had to go there for a week. I still need to go another week to go to the places that I missed to visit. There is a lot to do in NY city but I'm glad I was able to go to most of the places. Right after I came back from NY, I've decided to go visit my hometown Monterrey, Mexico after more than a decade that I haven't been able to visit friends and family. The following trips were to Kona-Big Island, Hawaii, Corpus Christi, and I'm going back to Monterrey, Mexico to spend New Year 2023!
As you know, I enjoy attending live concerts so this year I went to see The New Kids on the Block Remix Tape Tour with Rick Astley, EnVogue & SaltNPeppa in San Antonio, TX. I already seen this concert a couple of years ago in The Hollywood Bowl, but I had to see then again. Also, I went to the Cowboy Rodeo for the first time, and it was amazing! I also went to the Elton John Farewell concert at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX. This concert was cancelled from last year, but I'm so glad he was able to do the show, and it was fantastic! In New York I went to see the plays for Wicked, Tina Turner, and Hamilton, it was amazing!
My birthday gift was to spend a whole week in NY City so I had to leave early for the day to be able to do all the things I planned: Eat at Koreatown, Walk in Central Park, Go watch Wicket at Broadway, and finally go all the way to the top of the Empire State Building. I was able to manage my time and do all the things that I planned. It was a great experience! One thing that I learned is to plan way ahead, even months, to buy the tickets for all the places you would like to visit. Check out my next post for more tips about traveling to NY for the first time on a budget.
This 2022 has been so blessed for me, and I'm so thankful of the beautiful and great things that has come into my life. I got engaged and married this year too! I've learned new things, visited new places, experienced new food, made new family & friends, and started making new plans for 2023. One thing that I learned this year is that it's better to take things as they come, live simple, not all plans are perfect, live one day at the time, enjoy the small things, and it's never too late to start something new in your life. Wish y'all happy holidays, and a great 2023!
